Youth for Human Rights Campaign
I was tasked with designing a t-shirt for the Youth For Human Rights Campaign. The Youth For Human Rights Campaign (YHRI) is a nonprofit organization that teaches the youth of the world about human rights, specifically the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
First Iterations
My first version of the design was very free flowing. I originally wanted it to look as if a child had drawn it. I chose text that looks handwritten because it creates a more personable design. The use of multiple typefaces symbolizes the coming together of many people.
Final
For my final design I chose to simplify the hand. The two finger hand gesture is a universal sign of peace, and I wanted the symbol to be as recognizable as possible. I created a standard black and white version of the design and well as a full color version. I chose to make the full color version rainbow because while the rainbow also represents the LGBTQ+ community, it is also recognized as a universal symbol of peace. I felt that both represent the YHRI perfectly.
